Welcome message from Maike, our new Search Specialist

reef-staff-maike-z2Hey my name is Maike and I recently joined Reef as a Search Specialist. I’ve lived in Sydney for 7 years and have made it my home. I’m originally from Germany but – and this is why my accent throws most people – was fortunate to grow up in Malaysia, living in Kuala Lumpur for 12 years attending an international school. Global citizen? I’m well-travelled, bilingual, and occasionally dabble in Mandarin.

It’s the ever-changing landscape of online advertising that initially drew me to performance marketing and I am passionate about new technology and understanding the online world. Before digital media, I was an academic tutor at the University of Sydney, teaching in the fields of geopolitics, international relations, and political economy. I also worked as a Data Analyst (media research) in between, and casually during, semesters. I enjoy data driven and research based work, and performance marketing is exactly that. I’m also studying a grad. cert. in IT part time at UTS, both out of personal interest and to become more tech savvy in my professional life.

In my spare time you’ll find me at yoga and probably planning my next weekend adventure with my friends. I’m an outdoors person, but when in the city I’m always on the lookout for the next creative and/or cultural event to unearth, whether exhibition openings, film festivals, impromptu street parties, or a performance night supporting local artists. I definitely have a creative twist, and I am a chronic positive thinker – be mindful and create! 🙂
